Flexible battery charges in 60 seconds Free

7 April 2015
BBC: Hongjie Dai of Stanford University and his colleagues have developed a flexible aluminium battery, which, they claim, is not only cheap and fast-charging but also safer than current designs. The Stanford battery consists of a soft pouch that resembles a small sandwich bag. Inside are an aluminum anode, a graphite-foam cathode, and a nonflammable ionic electrolyte. The prototype operates at a voltage of 2 V and can undergo 7500 charge–discharge cycles without losing capacity. And unlike lithium batteries, the aluminum battery will not catch fire if pierced.
