Second IPCC climate change report focuses on impacts and options Free

31 March 2014
BBC: The effects of global warming will be “severe, pervasive, and irreversible,” according to the most recent report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The IPCC’s Working Group II met 25–29 March in Yokohama, Japan, to assess the vulnerability of human and natural systems to climate change, what the consequences will be, and what the options are. Based on the results of more than 12 000 peer-reviewed scientific studies, the new report outlines several reasons for particular concern, including threats to a variety of ecosystems and food supplies. However, it also emphasizes humans’ ability to adapt and what it’s going to take to mitigate the damage we have caused.
