US joins move to reduce short-lived pollutants Free

17 February 2012
New York Times: Impatient with the pace of international climate change negotiations, a small group of countries have started a program to reduce emissions of short-lived pollutants that cause a disproportionate amount of global warming. Soot, methane, and hydrofluorocarbons account for 30–40% of global warming and cause approximately two million premature deaths every year. Focused action on these substances can reduce global temperatures by 0.5 °C and prevent millions of deadly cases of lung and heart disease by 2030.
