The
State News: Michigan State University's free residential
summer physics camp—the Physics of Atomic Nuclei
Program—has proven popular. The outreach program, held at
the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory, offers one
week for science teachers and one week for high-school
students. In 2010, some participants came from as far as
California, and the camp enrolled its first international
studentsâmdash;one from the UK and one from
France. All participants attend a series of lectures,
demonstrations, and tours; participate in cosmic-ray research;
and present a poster at the end of the week.
