New
Scientist: In light of the budding space tourism and
commercial space industry,
Astronauts4Hire
was formed to provide a pool of skilled commercial
scientist-astronauts to fly experiments in space on the
commercial vehicles being developed. Currently numbering 17,
its members receive spaceflight training, and will eventually
complete micro-gravity and high-gravity flights. In
New Scientist, writer Celeste Biever interviews
president and cofounder Brian Shiro about how and why the group
was formed.
