Nature:
ITER, the international fusion reactor project, was expected to
cost €5 billion to construct, but is likely to cost three
times more, and will soon need €1.4 billion to cover
construction costs for 2012–13. To keep the project on
track, its biggest contributor, the European Union, will divert
funds from its central research fund.
Nature's Geoff Brumfiel provides details of the
deal.
