MSNBC:
On Tuesday the
Atlantis astronauts added another room to the
International Space Station. Using a robot arm, two
astronauts
Garrett
Reisman and
Piers
Sellersattached a 6-meter-long Russian chamber, which
will be used as a closet and mini-lab and provides an extra
docking port. The space station has been a work in progress
since 1998, when its first component, the Zarya control module,
was launched. With this latest addition, the space station is
near complete, with more living space than a 5-bedroom house.
Until 23 May, while the space shuttle is still docked, the
station is brighter than usual and can be
seen from
Earth.
