Louis Lanzerotti is one of eight scientists nominated by President Bush to serve on the National Science Board, the panel that oversees NSF. Lanzerotti, a physics professor at the New Jersey Institute of Technology and a consultant to Lucent Technologies’ Bell Laboratories, has focused his recent research on space weather and the effects of the Sun on Earth’s space environment. He also serves on a National Research Council committee that is studying whether to prolong the life of the Hubble Space Telescope (see Physics Today, Physics Today 0031-9228 5710200433 https://doi.org/10.1063/1.1825263 October 2004, page 33 ).
