Signs of recovery from the recession in science during the past decade and a half are readily apparent. Physics societies have been responding with expanded programs for their memberships. Because this expansion involves many activities that can be done best by the American Institute of Physics—their society of societies—it has also resulted in expanded operations at AIP. This annual report details the programs that took place in 1985 that will have national and international impact.
