The American Institute of Physics began expanding into its new premises at Woodbury, Long Island, New York on 18 March 1978. This marks the first step in carrying out the policy set forth by AIP's Governing Board in 1976 to have eventually all Institute operations at two geographical locations, New York City and Woodbury.
