Collisionless dissociation of polyatomic molecules was a topic of great interest at the Conference on Laser‐Induced Chemistry in Steamboat Springs, Colorado in February. Laser‐induced multiphoton dissociation has been used in the separation of sulfur, nitrogen, silicon, chlorine and osmium isotopes. Publicly reported work has concentrated on although of course the primary interest is in separating uranium isotopes.
