“Despite its enormous practical success, quantum theory is so contrary to intuition that, even after 45 years, the experts themselves still do not agree what to make of it…” noted Bryce DeWitt at the start of his September 1970 physics today article, “Quantum mechanics and reality.” His attempt to resolve the indeterminism question has resulted in a series of letters that appear to prove his opening statement right.
