Nineteen liberal‐arts colleges in and near Chicago have formed the “Associated Colleges of the Chicago Area” for cooperating in science education activities at Argonne National Laboratory. The chairman of ACCA, Mark Trumbo (dean, Aurora College”, said: “The primary interest of ACCA is in improving undergraduate education in science and mathematics by coöperating in the use of specialized equipment in Argonne's instructional laboratories.” These laboratories include equipment for radiation biology, computer applications, uses of radiosotopes, spectroscopy, and uses of nuclear reactors. The major activities of the organization are workshops for faculty members and laboratory experiments for students accompanied by their faculty members.
