The George Sarton Medal, which is awarded for outstanding performance in the history of science, has been given to Edward J. Dijksterhuis of the University of Utrecht. Prof. Dijksterhuis is known for his published works on the history of early Greek science and of 17th‐century science. The presentation was made in absentia on September 2 at the banquet in Philadelphia of the International Congress of the History of Science, which met at Cornell University and at the Benjamin Franklin Hotel in Philadelphia. The medal and cash award of $1500 are donated by the Pfizer Company.
