Members of the Institute of Radio Engineers and the American Institute of Electrical Engineers have voted to join the two societies in a new organization to be called the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. The AIEE approved the merger at its annual meeting in Denver on June 18, and the IRE at a special meeting on July 10 at its New York headquarters.
