The University of Pennsylvania has received a grant of $1 041 000 from the National Science Foundation for the purchase of a 12‐Mev tandem Van de Graaff accelerator for use in low‐energy nuclear research. The machine will be under the direction of William E. Stevens, professor of physics at the University, and will be available for use by researchers from neighboring institutions. It will be located on the Pennsylvania campus, adjacent to the Physical Sciences Building at 33rd and Walnut Streets in Philadelphia.
