DURING the current academic year, specialists in astronomy and meteorology will visit colleges and universities across the nation under continuing Visiting Scientists Programs organized respectively by the American Astronomical Society and the American Meteorological Society. The programs are similar to the college and university portion of the Visiting Scientists Program in Physics which was inaugurated in 1957 as a joint activity of the American Association of Physics Teachers and the American Institute of Physics, and they are also conducted with the support of grants from the National Science Foundation. The AAPT‐AIP program, now in its fourth year, has also included visits to large numbers of secondary schools, and has been further expanded to include visits to institutions of higher learning by physicists from abroad.
