Happy Birthday Neil deGrasse Tyson! The astrophysicist at New York's Hayden Planetarium and host of the Cosmos reboot was born in New York City in 1958. He studied physics at Harvard University and received his PhD in astrophysics from Columbia University. His areas of research include star formation and galactic structure. Most people know Tyson for his efforts communicating science, particularly astronomy, to the general public. He has written many books and was a vocal figure when Pluto was demoted from planet status. He hosts the StarTalk radio show as well as the reboot of Cosmos, the TV show made famous by Carl Sagan in 1980.
