Laser cladding technique has been used successfully to improve the performance of metals and alloys. In this paper, a 2 kW continuous wave CO2 laser was used to clad different powder mixtures (Ni-10%Al and Ni-30%Al) into the Inconel 617 substrate surface under different laser independent variables. The results showed that under selected optimum laser processing variables, different clad bead dimensions (height and width) were produced. The results also showed that remarkable changes in microhardness with clad bead thickness changes can be recognized.
