An energy balance for inert gas laser cutting

An energy balance which describes the equilibrium set up in the cutting zone during laser inert gas cutting is presented and analysed. The analysis involves an experimental and theoretical examination of the individual components of the equation. An assessment of the contribution of each component to the energy balance has thus been achieved.
