This presentation gives an overview of the requirements and safety considerations for setting up a laser lab specifically in an educational institution. This discussion includes requirements such as space, electrical, water, and gases, etc.

Safety devices such as enclosure interlocks, signs, and special cabinets for hazardous gases are also discussed. Most of the examples in this paper are related to the safety practices used at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College.
