There are several kinds of defects of the Al-Li alloy existing for laser welding, such as porosity, undercut, crack and so on. These defects will seriously influence on the weld joint mechanics properties. The dual spot laser welding can reduce these defects effectively and improve the weld joint quality and properties. In this paper, the dual spot laser welding was carried on 3mm thick 5A90 Al-Li alloy sheet. The weld joint defects, microstructure and properties had been studied under the different welding parameters. With comparing with the joint welded by the single laser welding, the reasons improving the weld joint quality and properties by dual spot laser weld was also analysed.
