In the article,1 the authors did not properly assess the retinal image for the widely diverging axis of the laser source when the eye was focused elsewhere. Under Eq. (10), the definition for DL(eye) should have stated “DL(eye) represents the minimum of DL and Df at the eye’s location” instead of “DL(eye) represents DL at the eye’s location.” This change affected two sentences in Sec. III D and the last three rows of Table V but did not affect other parts of the analysis. In Sec. III D, the fourth and fifth sentences should have read, “The beam in the horizontal axis overfills the pupil at 100 mm, so DL(eye) is 7 mm and ϕeye would be 408 mrad from Eq. (10). At 17.14 mm, DW(eye) would have been 25.5 μm, which is a point source, (f∞ − s'eye) would have been −0.14 mm, and dret would have been 62 μm from Eq. (11), which indicates an extended source.” instead of “In the horizontal axis, DL(eye) is 100 mm and ϕeye would be 5.88 rad from Eq. (10). At 17.14 mm, DW(eye) would have been 25.5 μm, which is a point source, (f∞ − s'eye) would have been −0.14 mm, and dret would have been 800 μm from Eq.
