Laser incidents continue to be reported. Previous reviews identified laser exposure occurrences with data beginning as early as 1964. These events include accidental exposures of the eye and/or skin, ignition of fires of both a personnel and facility nature, inhalation of hazardous gasses and/or particulates, lethal exposures of high voltage and other hazards associated with the use of lasers. All of these scenarios are defined as laser associated incidents and are recorded in the author's laser incident registry.
This presentation will update previous laser incident data reports. The data now covers 330 events. The analysis includes the type of laser involved and the conditions of the incident including, where possible, the exposure details and follow-up information.
