EUROLASER EU:643 Safety in the INDustrial Applications of Laser is a project with EUREKA status. The project has been running since 1991 and will be finished by March, 31 1997. More than 95 participants from 12 participating countries. This paper describe the Danish Part of Safety INDAL. The Danish part of INDAL consist of two Projects. The project at FORCE Institute concerns Laser Welding and the project at the Technical University of Denmark concerns Laser Cutting. Both projects investigate on fume and gas emission related to laser treatment of mild steel, stainless steel as well as coated steel. The aim of the project is to optimise the process in respect to the product quality and to minimise the emission risk. Results from the Laboratory Investigations (emissions measurements) and the Workplace Investigations (exposure and immission measurements) will be discussed. All workplace investigations have taken place in the Danish Industry. Isokinetic sampling, and statistical design of experiments has been used in the laboratory investigations. ICP-AES has been used for the chemical analysis of the fume, except Cr(VI) which requires a special analysis. The workplace investigations includes different types of lasers as well as different materials.
