Stimulated by recent major activities in both domestic and international laser safety standards, an organizing committee was established in early 1990 to lay the plans for a major international conference on laser safety. Members of the committee were involved in diverging areas of laser safety activities and represented a broad cross section of laser users in government, industry, medicine and education.
