In a publication of the International Laser Safety Conference 1997 in Orlando, FL, the question was raised, what we learned from accidents. In this paper a topical evaluation of the FDA data base is given and compared to findings in Germany, obtained by a specific interview of the respective clinics. Although the data on adverse effects involving endotracheal tubes are poor in the accessible data bases, the available information leads to the conclusion that these incidents and accidents continue to happen the same way as before.
