Decreased Best Spectacle-Corrected Visual Acuity (BSCVA) after Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK/PARK) has been reported. We have also observed BSCVA in a certain number of patients, which we attribute to a different reaction of the corneal tissue due to several factors. The development of a mathematical simulation model based on experimental data can reduce the cases of decreased BSCVA. In this view we have designed and developed an optical device that can work as modified Twymann-Green interferometer and shearographic unit. We propose and discuss the application of this combined Interferometry/Shearography system (I/S-s) for corneal measurement in vivo to minimize the risks of decreased BSCVA.
