Ford Motor Company is involved in accurately measuring the air flow to their internal combustion engines. In this endeavor, Ford has constructed a production facility to manufacture Mass Air Flow Sensors. At various steps in the manufacturing process of a Mass Air Flow Sensor, critical circuit parameters must be accurately set. This paper describes how Ford uses Lasers in the manufacturing of Mass Air Flow Sensors. This paper will detail the reasons for using a Laser as a circuit calibration device, along with detailing how the Laser is used in the various manufacturing process steps.
