This paper follows Lemoine’s work presented in ICALEO’93. It concerns the modelling of cladding with Nd:YAG laser. Now we are interested in cladding with low laser powers(typically P<800W). Experimental observations of the evolution of the mass of the clads allows to show two power thresholds. The theoretical study relies on a calculation of fluence provided to the substrate and on a model of heat transfert into the substrate. We suppose thatthe first threshold is the required power for the melting of the substrate. The second power is the threshold from the powder is directly melted by the beam and is liquid when contacting the substrate.
