Most industrial lasers require cooling water for optimum performance. A plant water supply will be adequate for some of these requirements. Many times, other factors rule out the use of plant water. Some of these are:

  • Not available at location

  • No suitable drain

  • Not allowed to dump due to environmental restriction

  • Quality of water poor

    • Temperature fluctuation too high or too low Too high does not provide cooling and too low causes condensation.

    • Mineral and sol ids

    • Sulfur content

    • Not adequate pressure
