In YAG laser welding by means of transmission with an optical fiber of kW class (hereinafter called the “fiber”), we have investigated the beam characteristics after fiber transmission, and welding characteristics of the SI and GI type fibers and also clarified the transmission loss in the fiber inside from the transmission losses of the fibers of 5m and 200m long. Further, we have clarified the beam energy loss in laser plume by comparing reduced-pressure welding results and welding results in the atmosphere.
