Laser Technology Associates Inc. (LTA) is addressing the application of laser diode array pumping of solid-state slab lasers. Experimental results of a miniature Nd:Glass (LHG-5) slab oscillator, pumped by a high power laser diode array (ten 1cm long bars, 380W) are presented. Design objectives and associated ramifications for up-scaling to kilowatt level average powers are discussed.
