This paper deals with laser cladded WC–Co powder on a low–carbon steel. The microstructure, hardness and dilution were examined with OM, SEM ED AX and microhardness, it is found that micro structures of WC–Co cladding varied considerably with different laser processing conditions. Laser cladding parameters to produce an ideal cladding casing of fine WC particle in γ–Co matrix are very critical in one’s choice.
