With the number of laser systems increasing rapidly in a growing variety of applications, automated quantitative measurements of laser beam parameters has become increasingly important. These methods must address the need for improved consistency, cost-effectiveness, quality, throughput and productivity of laser systems and their use. They must also have the ability to satisfy the requirements of a large spectrum of beam profile measurement applications (see Table 1) and user expertise in a wide variety of operational environments from the laboratory to the factory and beyond.
