Flow fields were measured within scaled-up plexiglass models of pressure-jet nozzles with the use of Laser-Doppler-Anemometry. The most significant items of interest were the tangential and axial velocity profiles for a variety of Reynolds numbers and swirl intensities in spill-controlled nozzles. The orifice film properties are of particular relevance for the subsequent disintegration of the fluid emission and hence for the final droplet distribution curves.
