Although today endoscopy has established its place in medical diagnostics, it has not yet exceeded the function of a qualitative, subjective observation method. Yet, modern diagnostic techniques increasingly require an objective, quantitative determination of form, structure and (micro-)movement of the - here endoscopic - object under study.
