The laser scene in Europe is currently characterised by large EEC and governmental spending on research and industry together with a considerable private investment. Research is bouyant and producing some interesting ideas-of industrial significance and numerous new industrial applications have been recorded in the four laser meetings on material processing held in Europe this year.
