The clinical usefulness of laser techniques in cardiac valve operations may be limited by the possibility of damaging normal cardiac tissues especially the cardiac conduction system. During this experiment a portion of the Aortic valve annulus that is in close proximity to the bundle of His was exposed to various levels of laser power from the Nd-YAG. There was no evidence either grossly or microscopically of damage to the cardiac conduction system.
