The Neodymium:YAG laser was used to determine the efficacy of vasovasostomy in dogs. The Cooper Molctron laser at ten watts power. 0.5 seconds duration was used to spot weld dog vas deferens circumferentially following cold knife vasectomy. Following a six to eight week healing period, the vasa were mobilized, vasograms were performed and the specimens histologically examined. All anastomoses were patent, without evidence of stenosis, stricture or leakage. We conclude the Nd;YAG laser to be efficacious in dog vasovasostomy. Further study need be done prior to human application.
