The device which is described is intended for the measurement of the “in-situ” oxidation-réduction state of a living tissue by U.V. laser induced fluorescence with a correction of the artifact introduced by blood flow, this correction being calculated from the measurement of the back scattered light coming from an other laser in the visible or infrared spectrum.

After theoretical studies, a first laboratory model has been built and some in vitro and in vivo experiments have been performed. They have assessed the method and have led to a new algorithm for fluorescence correction.

A second apparatus has been studied and built at CILAS-ALCATEL afterwards. This new device is more compact, portable and easily usable even by unskilled people.
