This study describes the SEM findings on STAARTM silicone intraocular lenses that were irradiated at various depths and energy densities with the Coherent 9900 Onhthalmic YAG LaserTM. The different kinds of laser induced damage effects formed are described, and mechanisms for their production are discussed.
