Power density distribution, called beam profile, of high power CO2 laser beam is successfully measured with the system designed especially. Incident beam is damped to match with the sensitivity of a detector using a new beam splitter. Data measured at 200 × 200 points in cross section of a beam are stored into IC memories. Power density distribution, contour lines, a bird’s-eye view etc. are calculated with microprocessors and displayed on a CRT.
