The results of this applied research show that problems with reliability and service life of dynamically loaded equipment, e.g. compressors, pumps, electric motors, etc. can be most effectively mitigated through engineering design and development of application specific composite materials and laser assisted methods to build surface layers with defined sets of operating properties. This is also the most cost effective approach that allows keep equipment’s top level performance without disrupting the interchangeable components design.

The results from experimental studies and the industrial application of developed laser processes and composite materials producing multi-functional coatings and structural elements on the critical components of dynamic rotating equipment employed in power generation and energy sectors are presented.
