Within this paper P1-, P2-, and P3-patterning of the inverted polymer solar cell based on flexible substrates and wet chemically deposited films are investigated. Experiments within this study are performed using a pulsed fs-laser pulsed source. Important laser parameters like pulse energy and spot-to-spot overlap are varied. The focus of the experiments is to obtain optimal edge quality without substrate damage for all three patterning steps. The requirement of optimal edge quality is mandatory in order to serially interconnect solar cells. Furthermore, ablation thresholds and process windows are determined and the dependence of the ablation mechanism, based on the material specific characteristics, is discussed.
