The influence of the gap size on the fatigue strength of welded titanium alloy overlap joints is studied in this paper. A finite element model (FEM) is established to evaluate the local stress concentration of overlap joint. By employing this FE model, the effects of the gap size on the local stress concentration of overlap joints are investigated and discussed. From the present study, the local stress concentration of the overlap joints with a proper gap will be a little lower.
