The interest of the welding simulation consists in the prediction of the mechanical behaviour of a device in relation with its thermal-mechanical and thermal-hydraulic past. On one hand, the thermal-hydraulic approach can lead to the prediction of the shape of the melting zone and its defects like cavities. On the other hand, we use an empirical approach in order to connect the parameters of the process to the shape and thermal cartography. The ultimate aim is to predict the stresses induced after welding.
