Using curved and twisted light guides, the pump radiation screened off by laser lamp in elliptical cavity was efficiently coupled to pump Nd:YAG laser crystal without affecting the performance of the main laser. With a transmission efficiency of 70%, the light guides of rectangular cross section are displayed around the crystal flow tube for a uniform pumping. For an efficient absorption of the active medium, a double-pass pumping scheme was accomplished with a reflecting coating. With a 98% output coupler, the measured output power was 0.8W, giving an electrical to optical efficiency of 0,8%.
