Many authors have suggested different solutions to laser weld zinc coated steel sheets in the past years. We propose two methods that combine two laser beams, an high power Nd:YAG and an high power CO₂, with complimentary functions. The paper describes the methods, proposes a mathematical model and discusses the proposed optical head.
