Special Issue on the Lattice Boltzmann Method
The lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) has been a research hotspot for the past three decades. Being established at the mesoscopic scale, LBM has been applied in a wide variety of fluid flows. Compared with the Navier-Stokes solvers, LBM may be favored due to its kinetic nature, simplicity, and explicitness. Various mathematical models have been developed within the lattice Boltzmann framework, and numerous applications have been reported, such as those in micro flows, multiphase flows, thermal flows, turbulence flows, and non-Newtonian flows. This special issue includes new contributions covering theoretical developments and engineering applications of the LBM, as well as reports of other Boltzmann equation–based methods.
